Influenster Country Crock VoxBox

This is probably one of my favorite Voxbox that I have received in a while. Who doesn't love a yummy goodness.

We love Country Crock in my house. It spread oh so smoothly on toasted bread without having to crush it. If you've ever tried regular butter, you know exactly what I'm talking about it. It makes for a great grilled cheese sandwich (again, doesn't make the bread fall apart).

I didn't realize that Country Crock had come out with a new recipe, so at first I was a bit hesitant to try it as many reviews said the taste had change but guess what? Still the same great taste as the original recipe.

Overall, it's a great product and we will always purchase it.

Coca-Cola Life (Bzzagent Review)

Time for another product review but before I start with my personal opinion, let me tell you a bit about this item.

Coca-Cola Life is a product that originally launched in Argentina and Chile in 2013 and has now finally been distributed throughout other countries. It is sweetened with Stevia and cane sugar and is said to be lower in calories than the original Coca-Cola.

I was excited to be receiving this product to test out as I am a Coca-Cola fan however I was skeptical on what it might taste like. I do not mind sugar free products as long as they taste like the original. So soon as it arrived, I placed it in the fridge and waited a few hours til it got cold.

The time was set and it was ready. I grabbed my glass, filled it with ice and slowly poured the contents of the glass bottle into my cup. Took my first sip and I was highly impressed. I couldn't tell a taste difference between this and the original and for me that was a win. With that said, I let my hubby try a sip (he always chooses coke over Pepsi) and he said it's just as good as the original as well. So Coca-Cola Life is a winner in this household! We will definitely be purchasing it again especially since we got some coupons along with it.

Influenster Calvin Klein Voxbox

This was a suprise and fun package to receive as i had no clue that i was selected to participate in this voxbox round.

I go check the mail like any regular day and inside was this small silver bubble envelope. Right away I'm trying to remember if i had ordered something and just forgotten about it as i was expecting any delivers. Then I see it's from Influenster and it says calvin klein on the outside label, so that got me excited.

I go inside, open the package and find a sample of Reveal Calvin Klein Men cologne and a card wallet. I was slightly bummed that this was for my husband to use and not I but hey if he's smelling good, then I guess that's benefiting me as well haha.

The scent is good, kind of hard to really explain though. It's a touch of freshness with some floral and masculinity thrown in there. The more it sat on the skin the stronger it became but not too overpowering that you just wanted to wash it off.

As of right now it's a Macy's only exclusive item but will be available nationwide this coming April.

Influenster Frosty VoxBox Review

A new year and a new start to some fun exciting products thanks to Influenster. To be honest, I had given up on receiving anything from them as it had been months since I got my last product testings. Then low and behold, I get that little questionnaire email and a while later a fun package arrived at my door.

So let's get down to business, shall we? Here are the products received in the frosty box...

1. Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane Green Tea ($3.85 per 20 pack): At first I wasn't too sure what to think of this based on the description. Turns out it's really good and doesn't have a weird taste like some green teas do. I would buy again!

2. Boots No. 7 anti-aging face cream ($22.99): I haven't tested this out yet but I wish they had given a bigger sample so we can really see if it makes a difference. For the price it's selling, it's just too high for me to jump in and buy it from a tiny sample pack.

3. Red Vines ($1.00 per 5oz bag): All I'm going to say is... this bag was done in 10 min haha

4. Rimmel Eye Makeup Remover ($3.99 per 4.2 fl oz bottle): I'm almost out of makeup remover, so this came in perfect timing. Tried it once and it worked great. Removed everything without leaving a streaky mess behind.

5. Eco Tools Styler & Smoother Hair Brush ($10.99): So let me tell you, a week before this arrived I was saying I need a new round brush as mine had slightly burned from the blow dryer. Works great, doesn't get tangled in hair. Pretty much does what it's meant to do.

6. McCormick Gourmet Thyme spice ($4.99 per .62 oz bottle): I love using spices in my cooking, so I was really excited to try this one. Smells good, tastes great. Nothing else needed to say!

7. Rimmel Eyeliner ($4.29): I love this eyeliner, it's waterproof, smudge  proof and long lasting. Nothing I hate more than having to keep reapply a liner throughout the day because it wears off. A+ in my books for this product.

8. NYC Lipstick ($2.00) : Love the color, it glides on smoothly and lasts quite a few hours. Very impressed and for the price you can't beat it.

Influenster Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-in Whitening Pen Review

I've been using Colgate Optic White toothpaste since I was first introduced to it in a previous voxbox. It's reasonably priced and works great, so I was excited when I was chosen to receive this product. The Colgate Optic White Toothbrush + Built-In Whitening Pen retails for approx. $12.99!

The cool thing about the design of this toothbrush is the storage for the whitening pen. The pen just slips into the bottom so you never end up losing it. The whitening gel comes out of a rubber tip giving you precise aim as to where you want to apply it. The gel doesn't have that bad whitening taste, which I'm sure you're familiar with if you use whitening products. To use you just simply turn the dial at the bottom of the whitening pen, apply the gel and and go on about your day, you don't even notice it's there. I've been using it before going to bed and so far I can see results. I can't wait to see even better results after a week of use. I will say that I wish the pen was sold separately, I'd much rather buy a couple pens then keep having to buy the entire kit.

Overall, this whitening system is great, inexpensive and easy to use at home. I'll definitely be repurchasing some more with the $3 off coupons I also received.

Influenster Rose VoxBox Review

Another month, another Influenster voxbox review. Let's jump into it!!

1. Rimmer London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara ($5.99): I love a good mascara and I'm always on the hunt for new ones to try out. If you're into makeup, you know there is nothing worse than spending xx amount of dollars on a product only to be disappointed by it's outcome. The mascara claims to coat lashes individually for a big, false lash look in one simple stroke and no clumps. I haven't had a chance to try out this mascara yet but I'm really looking forward to it.

2. Dr. Scholl's For Her Cozy Cushions ($12.49): I'm one who's feet are always cold, whether it's Winter or Summer. So you can imagine how excited I was when I saw these in the box. I've been using for a couple weeks now and my feet have never felt warmer. Not only do they keep my feet warm and dry but they also provide a cushion underneath.

3. Belvita Crunch Breakfast Biscuits ($3.69 for a box of 5 packets of 4 biscuits): I received this brand of biscuits in a previous box and really enjoyed them so I had no doubt I would love these as well. They reminded me of a blueberry pie. What's not to love about a good for you, on the go breakfast bar.

4. Kiss Gradation Polishes ($6.99): My favorite item in the box! I love painting my nails and trying new polishes out, however when it comes to designs I just don't seem to know what I'm doing. I love these because you don't have to be neat and they still come out perfect. I will say though that they work and look better on longer nails versus short.

5. Lindt Lindor Milk Chocolate Truffles ($3.99 for a 5.1oz bag): Chocolate with a creamy center, a chocolate lovers dream. However, I'm not sure what it is about the Lindt Lindor chocolates (any variety) that I do not like. I gave it to my husband to eat and he enjoyed it. This also came with a $1.00 off any Lindor item.

Influenster - Dr. Scholl's Active Series Insoles Review

A month ago I received a pair of Dr. Scholl's Active Series replacement insoles from Influenster to test out and review. Looking over the packaging, it claims that the Active Series is specifically designed for athletes and offers a triple zone protection.

The triple zone protection is divided into the following parts:
  1. Ball of Foot - padding to improve cushioning
  2. Arch - reinforced to support foot
  3. Heel - deep heel to absorb impact with every step
I have been testing out these insoles for the past month and I will say that they have been a great help. I'm able to walk/run for longer periods of time and have noticed that I haven't had the occasional knee pain that I used to experience. I will say though that I'm not a super active athelete, as in running 7 days a week for hours at a time. So with that said for me they worked great but how well will they work for that super active person, only trying them will tell. Even with the cushion of the insoles, they still feel normal under my feet.

The Dr. Scholl's Active Series insoles run for approx. $20 in stores, which I think is somewhat pricey but on the Dr. Scholl's website there is a $4 off coupon to help with the price. So if you're looking for foot support, I suggest you give these insoles a try!

Influenster Lifeway Kefir Review

A month ago I was selected to participate in the Influenster Lifeway program. I'm a huge fan of yogurt, so I was really excited to try out this new product. A week later I received two coupons, one was for a free product and the other was for $1 off 2. Looking at the coupons, I realized that this product comes in a drinkable form as well as frozen. I knew immediately that I was headed off to get some frozen yogurt.

I jumped onto my laptop and checked out the Lifeway site and narrowed down the closest stores to my location that carried them, the only problem is that the site doesn't state whether the stores carry both (drinkable, frozen) or just one kind. First two stores I walked into didn't have any at all (regardless of what the website had said), next store I walked into had only the drinkable yogurt. By now I was starting to get frustrated because how hard can it be to find a simple product. A few days later, I made a special trip out to a higher end grocery store and was lucky enough to find that they carried both products. My product of choice was the strawberry frozen Kefir.

I love the taste, it reminds me of candy (think laffy taffy of sorts), I would definitely try the other flavors. The other awesome benefits to this product include, probiotics, low calorie count, all natural, gluten free just to name a few. I will say though that I didn't enjoy traveling all over town just to find it and I doubt I would pay $5 a pint. In my opinion, that's just a tab bit high. However if it happened to be on sale, I'd be all over it.

Bzzagent - Summer Grilling with Kroger Campaign

A month ago I was selected to participate in the Bzzagent, Summer Grilling with Kroger campaign. I was so excited to receive my products and get to testing, cause what's better than free products? FREE FOOD PRODUCTS!!!

I was sent the following coupons:
- One free Big K 12-pack soda (any variety)
- One free pack of Kroger hamburger/slider buns (8 or 12 count)
- One free pack of Kroger Beef sliders or Turkey burgers
- One free pack of Kroger potato chips (any variety)
- 40 cents off one Kroger deluxe ice cream (any variety)

I was also sent a bunch of 40 cents coupons off Big K 12-pack soda and ice cream to give to my family and friends.

The day my coupons arrived, I hurried off to my nearest Kroger store and started shopping. I picked up turkey burgers, hamburgers buns, plain chips and Orange soda. I got back home, turned on my oven, and got to cooking. The best part was that the turkey burgers did not need to be defrosted.

The turkey burgers were great. I personally thought that they could use a tad bit more seasoning but other than that they were an awesome grab. For the price of $7.99, I will definitely be purchasing them again.

The chips were delicious. My husband (who's not a store brand type of guy) said that they tasted just as good as Lays chips. I have to totally agree with him on that one. They were gone in a couple days.

The orange soda was awesome. I'm a big fan of orange soda to begin with and the taste of the Kroger brand was just/if not better than any brand name orange soda.

Overall, if you want great products with great flavors for a great price, then check out your local Kroger store.

Influenster Review - VEET® EasyWax™ Electrical Roll-On Kit

Well, looks like summer has finally made it and with summer, comes smooth legs!

I was so excited when I found out that I would be receiving the new Veet EasyWax Electrical Roll-On kit. I have been waxing on and off for as long as I can remember. I have tried many types of waxing products, from cold strips to sugaring to hot wax. You name it, I've tried it.

Included in the wax kit; the electrical warmer with base, legs & body roll-on refill, 24 hair removal strips (or 12-non woven strips) and 4 perfect finish wipes. Putting the kit together is super easy and takes less than 30 seconds. You pop in the refill into the warmer, plug the warmer into an outlet, stand the warmer in the base and let heat for 30 minutes to melt the wax. Easy enough right?

30 minutes roll by and I'm all prepped and ready to go. However, the wax is NOT ready. The roller is not gliding easily and nothing is coming out. Ok, another 15 minutes go by and it's not gliding on smoothly. After having it plugged in for over an hour and trying to position the warmer in different directions (I even tried putting it upside down to help the wax roll down), it was somewhat easier to use but it never did get to that super easy smooth to roll on wax consistency.

Each time I used it, I had to roll on a few layers to get a good amount of wax on my legs. One refill was not enough for both my legs. However, I'm guessing had it worked properly and only needed one layer of wax then I'm sure there might have been plenty left.I did see a few people mention that there wasn't enough removal strips but the solution to that is simple, you can use the same strip a few times and it works just as good as the first time around. The finish wipes worked great to removal leftover wax.

Overall, I do not recommend this product. For a retail price of approx. $29.99, I expected a much better waxing experience.

Influenster Sugar 'n Spice VoxBox

You ready to see all the goodies of the next Influenster voxbox I received? I was so surprised to see such a big package waiting for me at my doorstep one day and couldn't wait to open it up and see what I was given the opportunity to try out. Here's a quick glance of all the awesome products I was sent.

Now let's get into the fun stuff. I have tested out everything shown and the reviews are my own.

The Sugar 'n Spice voxbox included the following:

1. BelVita Breakfast Biscuits ($3.69 for a box of 5 packets): I have never seen these in stores before and was excited to give them a try. Most days I never feel like eating an actual sit down breakfast and tend to grab something quick (not always the healthiest options either). Not only are these biscuits good for you but they taste great as well. They come in 5 flavors, I was sent the Cinnamon Brown Sugar. They come 4 in a pack and are great with any hot beverage. I'd definitely recommend these and will be picking up a box next time I'm at the store.

2. Nectresse ($3.99 for a box of 40 packets): I was really skeptical about this sweetener at first but I figured I'd give it a go, what did I have to lose. It says right on the box that 1 packet equals 2 teaspoons of sugar. I got my tea ready and added a packet into my mug. I was really expecting to add a couple more packs but I was wrong. It worked like a charm and tasted just like regular granulated sugar out of a bag. No after taste, no nothing. Best part about this sweetener is that it's made from monk fruit and 100% natural.

3. Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Oil Controlling Towelettes ($5.99 for a 20 count box): I was really looking forward to testing these out, especially with my combination skin. Anything that helps with my oily t-zone is a plus in my books. I have never used Witch Hazel before so the smell really threw me off, I did not like it one bit. However, they made my face feel clean and refreshed. They got rid of dirt, oil and even makeup that was still on there from the day before. If there's anything I could change about this product, it would be the smell and longer lasting oil control.

4. Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturizer ($7.99 for a 6.5oz can): This is my favorite product of the bunch. I have never heard of it before, so I was excited to try it out. It smells good, sprays on easily, dries quickly and is non greasy. All of these things make for a good lotion in my opinion. Definitely a product that I will be buying once it's gone!

5. Colgate Optic White Regimen (Toothpaste $2.99 for 4oz tube, Toothbrush $2.99 per brush, Mouthwash $2.99: This isn't my first time using whitening products but it is my first time using Colgate. I was really happy to see these in the box, especially knowing how pricey whitening products tend to be. The first thing I love about these is the price point. For under $9, you have all the things you could possibly need for getting a brighter, whiter smile and who doesn't love that. They claim to whiten your teeth in just 5 days by using the toothpaste along with the mouthwash. I have only been using them for a couple days so far but I really love how they make my teeth feel afterwards. The only thing I wish I could change and that goes for all whitening products, is the taste. It's not horrible but if you've used whitening strips before then you know exactly what I mean. I'm really looking forward to seeing some results and will most likely be purchasing these once I'm out.

Thanks to Influenster for the awesome products!

Influenster - Palmolive Fresh Infusions

This is what showed up at my doorstep a week ago and I have never been more excited to open up a package. Excited to do dishes? Yup, that's when you know you're a grown up!!

My friend happened to be visiting at the time, so we immediately opened up all the caps and started smelling each scent. At first glance, I thought I was going to love Ginger White Tea but it turned out to be my least favorite. My favorite scent was the lime basil, it was just so refreshing. My friend liked the lemon thyme the best and she even decided to test it out (who am I to stop her if she wants to wash my dishes).

Overall we both like Palmolive Fresh Infusions. The soap gets pretty sudsy and rinses off easily with no leftover residue. I highly recommend this product and will definitely be purchasing Palmolive Fresh Infusion in the near future. You can purchase your own bottle to try at any Target or Walmart for approx. $2.97.

Influenster Cosmo Voxbox 2012

It's time for my first ever Influenster voxbox opening!!

To start off, let me tell you a little bit about who Influenster is and what they do. They are a free-to-join community that periodically send out voxboxes (basically goodie boxes) with items currently being sold in stores for you to try out and give your honest opinions about said items.

Participants are selected for boxes based on their expert badges, lifestage badges, influenster score and demographics. The more activities you participate in, the better chance you have of being chosen for a voxbox. Oh and in case you missed it, this is totally FREE!!

Ready to check out my first voxbox? Come along with me....

The Cosmo voxbox included the following:

1. FriXion by Pilot Pen ($4.50 for a 3-pack, $11 for a 8-pack): At first glance I wasn't sure what could be so exciting about pens, I mean really I've used plenty in my life to write with and to me they all do the same job. After testing them out I have to say I love the ink quality and how smoothly it goes on. The best part to me though was the erasable end. I've never tried an erasable ink pen before and let me tell you they actually work. I was sent a black pen and a red pen. These will definitely be my go to pens.

2. Forever Red Eau de Parfume by Bath & Body Works ($10 for .25 fl oz, $44.50 for full size): I love Bath & Body Works products, so you can imagine how excited I was to see the perfume sample. I've been wearing this perfume for a while now to really test it out and I still absolutely love it. It's not too strong and overpowering like some smells tend to be. Plus, it's the perfect size for the purse and on the go. I will definitely be buying another one once this run outs.

3. Ghirardelli Gourmet Milk Sea Salt Escape ($2.79): What... A full sized chocolate bar in my box?? YESSSSSSS!!! If it isn't obvious by now, I LOVE me some chocolate. However, this was not my favorite and I don't think I'd be buying it. As much as I love chocolate, I'm still picky about the flavors. My husband gave this chocolate bar a big thumbs up though, so I guess that makes up for my lack of love for it.

4. Gillette Venus Embrace Razor with Refill plus coupon ($3.50-$4.50 per month for razor refills): This was my favorite product upon first opening the box because seriously you can never have to many razor in the house and being a girl you know how expensive some of those can be. Can't wait to try this out!!

Thanks to Influenster for the awesome products!

Chicken and Vegetable Soup

Well it's that time of year when the cold reminds me of hot soup. I was looking a for new recipe to try when i stumbled upon this one a few weeks ago and saved it to my favorites menu on the laptop in hopes that one day i will eventually get around to making it. Today was the day and I'm so glad I tried it cause it came out super yummy and definitely perfect for a chilly fall day. Original recipe came from Sing For Your Supper but I modified it a bit to my own taste.

Ingredients:
2 chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
4-6 medium-sized carrots, chopped
4-6 celery stalks, chopped
1 medium sized onion, chopped
2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
3 medium sized potatoes, cut into small cubes
3 cups frozen veggies (bag of mixed of corn, peas, carrots)
8 cups water
6 chicken bouillon cubes
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp basil
salt and pepper to taste
1 bay leaf
1/2 cup milk

Directions:
1. Cook chicken using method of choosing. I chose to boil them and then shred
2. While chicken is cooking cut up all vegetables
3. Place 8 cups water in a stockpot and bring to a boil
4. Add the bouillon cubes and stir until melted
5. Add salt, pepper, oregano, basil and stir well
6. Place carrots, celery, onion, garlic, bay leaf in pot and cook 15-20 minutes over medium heat until vegetables are tender
7. Check for seasoning and adjust to taste if necessary. Take out bay leaf
8. Stir in the chicken, potatoes, and frozen vegetables
9. Simmer for another 20-30 minutes
10. Add milk for a little added flavor and cook for another 5 minutes
